Mathematics
The Department of Mathematics started functioning in 1967 and was upgraded to an undergraduate department offering a B.Sc. program in 1981. It was further elevated to a postgraduate department in 1984. The department's goal is to become a centre of profound knowledge and inspiration for students and researchers in Mathematics. Throughout its history, the department has been enriched with distinguished faculty members. Their dedicated service and support for students have consistently propelled them to achieve success despite their socio-economic backgrounds.
The department's primary objectives include promoting, inspiring, and nurturing the fundamentals of Mathematics through undergraduate and postgraduate courses, maintaining excellence in research, extension, and public outreach, and preparing students to meet the challenges of the global market. Additionally, the department offers certificate courses, skill development programs, and organizes workshops and seminars annually.
Furthermore, the department convenes the annual meeting of the alumni association "Ganitham" and awards scholarships to meritorious students for their academic and co-curricular achievements.
