Chemistry
The Department of Chemistry started functioning in the year 1967 and upgraded to a UG department with B. Sc. programme in 1983. In 2001 the department was uplifted to PG department and in 2022 to a research department. The Chemistry department celebrated its Golden Jubilee in the year 2017-18. Now the department completed 56 years of incalculable service in the implement of socially and educationally backward people of Thrissur District. The department mainly aimed at widening the intellectual capacity of the students and to expand the horizon of their social outlook, to improve the quality of human capital in the region and to provide a broad understanding of chemistry theory and practical in general. The main objectives of the department are
- To promote, inspire and nurture the fundamentals of chemistry through UG and PG courses
- To create and maintain excellence in the areas of research, extension and public outreach.
- To equip with facilities so as to make it a premium centre for advanced chemical studies and research.
- To transform our students to meet challenges of global market
The department was enriched with eminent personalities as faculty members and HODs. Their whole hearted services and affection towards the students always kept it at the peaks and could lead the students to their achievements beyond their poverty and social back grounds. The department of Chemistry, as a part of Sree Narayana College and its mission, acted as a driving force for the development of Nattika Manappuram in the 1970s. Many of our students chair the high positions in society as a professor, scientists, school teachers and employees in various offices and institutions national and abroad. Department alumni is organizing C. V. Sudhi memorial lecture sereis every year to commommerate the whole hearted service of late Prof. C. V. Sudhi, the former faculty as well as HOD.
